Melodifestivalen 2013

To night something bif is happening in Sweden. Melodifestivalen beginns this weekend and will grip the nation for six weeks until there is an artist that could represent sweden in the Eurovision song contest, 2013. This year is it particulary important though the Eurovision songcontest will take place in Malmö in May. The winner last year was Loreen with the song Euphoria.

There were about 3000 entries and only 32 will compete in the four semifinals held Saturdays in a different cities. There are no jury, all votes are cast by televote. The two best artists will start in the final in six weeks and every third and fourth best in the semi finals are going to a second chance the fifth Saturday. Then the two best artist from the second chance also are welcome to the final of the Melodifestivalen. Best in the final is competing in Malmö in Eurovison Song Contest in May. There are about 125 millions of viewers from around 40 nations watching the Europeian Song contest. One of the most famous to win from Sweden was probably ABBA in 1974 with Waterloo.
